Nautical Star Tattoo
Tattoo Designs - Some Popular Ideas
The Koi Tattoo is a Japanese style tattoo that has a great meaning. I personally have a koi tattoo and chose it for a couple reasons. One because I love fish, and the other is the meaning behind a koi. The koi is said to come from the yellow river. It swims up water falls in this river and once it reaches a point in the river and it climbs its final waterfall it is said that the koi turns into a dragon. It is also said that when caught the koi will lie on the cutting board not moving a muscle just waiting to be killed. To me the koi represents all the qualities of a warrior. This also represents to me the overcoming of huge obstacles, the ability to achieve high goals, and transformation.
Another popular Japanese style tattoo is the phoenix. The phoenix is a great tattoo to get. If you have or can find a really great artist that specializes in Japanese art that is what I would use for this tattoo. Due to the fact that this is also a very intricate tattoo I would find an artist that is good with lots of detail. The detail in a proper phoenix tattoo is very important. The phoenix has lots of feathers and should look almost flamboyant; however don't let the flamboyant thing turn you off to this tattoo design idea. The phoenix is a mythical bird that when it dies it bursts into flames and from the ashes a new phoenix is born. This is a tattoo that has a lot to do with transition, transformation, and a new birth.
The nautical star has become very popular for many people including punk rockers and people in the military. Originally the meaning behind the star was the ability to find your way home. As the shape is more or less a compass. It may also have the meaning of finding your way through life. So the round about meaning of a nautical star is finding direction.
Whatever you may choose for your tattoo design, make sure you think about it long and hard because the fact remains you are going to have to live with is for a very long time. These are just a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing.
Travis Barker's Tattoos
Even though his band is known for their pop punk music, Travis Barker has proven to be a versatile drummer, having participated in numerous music projects spanning a wide range of genre like ska, pop, hip hop, punk rock, and even country.
Perhaps what makes Travis memorable in the minds of people is the Travis Barker tattoos. These tattoos are part and parcel of the whole Barker package, since his body is covered with it. He usually performs shirtless, hence exposing the Travis Barker tattoos for all to see.
According to Barker, there is a simple explanation as to his decision to cover his body with tattoos. He said that he purposely had tattoos etched all over his body so that he could not live a normal life with a normal job and thus play music all his life.
Barker had his first tattoo when he was 17 years old. He had the word "BONES," which was his nickname as a kid, etched on his leg.
Most of his tattoos are religious in nature, since he had a Catholic upbringing. Examples of these Catholic Travis Barker tattoos include a portrait of Jesus located above his left biceps and the Sacred Heart.
Aside from Catholic-inspired tattoos, Barker's love for cars is also evident on his body art. He especially loves Cadillacs, as evidenced by two racing flags located on the side of his neck. It also has the number 66, symbolizing the year of his favorite Cadillac.
Another Cadillac-inspired tattoo is a Cadillac emblem etched on his chest, plus the word "Cadillac" found on the side of his body.
Travis also has tattoos pertaining to his love for music. There is a microphone and a boom box tattoo on his stomach, symbolizing Travis Barker's love for break dancing.
He also has a tribute for the Descendents, in the image of their "I Don't Want to Grow Up" album, tattooed on his leg.
Names of Barker's family can also be found tattooed all over his body. He has "Mom" on his nape, "Melissa" on the side of his neck, and "Landon" located on his left wrist.
Punk Rock Tattoos
So I did what any other punk rock fan living in the world of information technology would do, I walked out of the tattoo parlor and went straight home to my trusty computer. I banked on the mighty search power of Google to help me find some great looking punk rock tattoos. The designs that I wanted must meet the following criteria:
1. Cool and stylish artwork. Of course, excellent design is a must as you do not want to get stuck with a hideous looking tattoo that makes you want save up for a tattoo removal surgery.
2. Uniqueness. Have you seen some of the punk rock tattoos available out there? They completely lack originality and you might wind up having the same tattoo design like everybody else. This is completely unacceptable.
Yes I know what you're thinking; is it possible to find "unique" and "cool" punk rock tattoos online? I understand your concern as most of the offerings on the internet are cookie-cutter creations and what's more, many tattoo artists are simply lazy to come up with new designs so they often resort to common lazy man's tactics of switching the color or making extremely slight changes to a particular tattoo art in order to pass them off as fresh, brand new designs.
Punk Tattoos
It is based on non-conform appearance from the point of view of clothing, hairstyle, tattoos and jewelry. Punks have created their own universe; they have obeyed their own rules and they have not been interested in what other normal people could say about them.
Punk tattoos are a chaos and rebellion against dullness. Usually they are large placed on arms, back, legs in black and grey color. Colors as red or yellow showing off fierce and rebel are mostly used. Mostly teenagers and young men and women go for punk tattoos depicting sacrifice, torture, wars and other images.
A tattoo used to be a permanent and irreversible adornment to one's skin. However, in recent years derma surgeons have developed safe and effective techniques to successfully remove unwanted tattoos. Tattoo inks are classified as cosmetics, so they aren't regulated or approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The pigments and dyes used in tattoo inks aren't approved for injection under the skin. Long-term effects of these are unknown.

Angel Tattoo Meanings
Angel Tattoo Meanings
Angels can mean different things to men and women. For women, an angel often denotes the desire to maintain purity or their desire to be a good person. Angels symbolize the ultimate nurturer because they are often depicted as rescuers or saviours. It is fitting then that women usually find a common ground with them. Wearing one on your body signifies a deep desire to be cared for and looked after. It also shows one's own innate ability to protect oneself. Angels are a sign of strength for men. Many angels have been described as warriors of the soul. Men choose angel tattoos as a symbol for bravery and courage. Universally, angels signify protection for either sex. Many people look at angels as guardians and a gauge for the moral compass.
